A Self-Help Group of Women artisans in remote Himachal villages needed a brand identity that could bring their handcrafted products to a wider market.
In the remote regions of Himachal Pradesh, women self-help groups (SHGs) create beautiful handloom products using traditional techniques passed down through generations merged with modern technologies. While the craftsmanship was rich in heritage, there was no unified identity to represent their work in the market. The Hans Foundation aimed to support these artisans by providing them hand-holding and know-how required for competing in the commercial market.
The Hans Foundation also helped them come with a new umbrella brand under a single brand- Tirthan Knots.
This is where Tangio came in.
A rural world full of challenges:
However, the challenge was deeper than just creating a logo. The brand needed to reflect the women behind the craft, the tools they use, and the mountains they belong to, while also presenting itself in a way that could appeal to modern consumers.
A market flooded with commercial brands
How to bridge this gap
How do you build a brand that stays rooted in tradition, yet feels relevant in a modern marketplace?
To create a brand identity that celebrates Himachal’s women artisans and their craft, while making it accessible and appealing to a wider audience.
We went through the process of finding everything that resembles the work, the culture, the history and everything else and went on to amalgamate it into one strong identity. We went on with multiple trials through which we got the final outcome of the logo. Below is the entire breakdown of the logo:
Integrated the identities of The Hans Foundation and Tirthan Knots seamlessly within the overall design system.
Designed paper bags and packaging that presented the products in a modern, market-ready way while retaining their cultural authenticity.
Tirthan Knots now has a strong, meaningful identity that reflects its roots while being ready for modern markets. The logo captures the essence of Himachal’s hills, the artisans, and their craft, while the packaging design elevates how the products are presented. The result is a brand that not only sells products but also tells the story of the women and the tradition behind them.
